Top NBA DFS Play

Damian Lillard (PG, $8,500)

Damian Lillard exceeded 50 DraftKings fantasy points in back-to-back games. Both matchups were extremely difficult, one against the Utah Jazz and then against the Los Angeles Lakers.

There is a strong possibility that he produces another 50+ DraftKings fantasy point outing tonight in a much friendlier matchup against the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix currently ranks 19th in defensive efficiency and is surrendering the ninth-most DraftKings fantasy points per game to opposing point guards.

Lillard is at home tonight, where he is scoring 4.2 more DraftKings fantasy points per game this season. Given the ideal matchup, Vegas has the Portland Trail Blazers earning the second-highest implied team total of the night at 117.75 points. This will be the tenth time this season that Portland possessed an implied team total of 115 points or more, and in those first nine, Lillard was brilliant with 50.3 DraftKings fantasy points per game. He is the best high-end value on the board.

Bam Adebayo (C, $7,600)

Bam Adebayo struggled Saturday night but for good reason. He was in a brutal matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. So far this season, Philadelphia’s defense has allowed the second-least DraftKings fantasy points per game to opposing centers.

Tonight, Adebayo’s matchup is the complete opposite, as he faces off against the Washington Wizards, a team that is giving up the third-most DraftKings fantasy points to centers. Prior to the 21.25 DraftKings fantasy points that he recorded against the Sixers, Adebayo was playing outstanding basketball, scoring 50.1 DraftKings fantasy points per game in his previous 10 contests.

He should absolutely get right back on track tonight, especially when you consider that Miami currently sports the highest implied team total of this six-game slate at 118 points. In the four contests this season that the Heat were projected for 115 points or more, Adebayo is producing 43.4 DraftKings fantasy points per game. Additionally, he has already faced Washington once this year, and in that matchup, Adebayo scored 52 DraftKings fantasy points.

Hassan Whiteside (C, $7,100)

Saturday night, Hassan Whiteside played great in the worst possible matchup for a center. The Los Angeles Lakers allow the least fantasy points per game to the center position. Whiteside scored 46.5 DraftKings fantasy points in 33.5 minutes of work in this tough spot and is now contributing 45 DraftKings fantasy points per game in the month of December.

Tonight, Whiteside and the Portland Trail Blazers are at home, competing in the highest-totaled game of the night against the Phoenix Suns at 231 points.

The Suns’ defense is giving up the ninth-most DraftKings fantasy points to opposing centers, and Whiteside is producing a whopping 11.1 more DraftKings fantasy points per game at home this season. In the six Trail Blazers’ home games that had a closing total of 225 points or higher in 2019, Whiteside is generating 47.5 DraftKings fantasy points per game.

This is the cheapest the center has been in 14 contests, and fantasy owners could receive over seven times value from Whiteside in this spot.

Christian Wood (PF/C, $3,800)

For tonight’s matchup against the Utah Jazz, the Detroit Pistons are without Luke Kennard (knee), Blake Griffin (knee), and Markieff Morris (hand). Wood could possibly draw the start at power forward, but even if he doesn’t, the energetic big man should have to play 20+ minutes. He is scoring an efficient 1.22 DraftKings fantasy points per minute this season and logged over 20 minutes in each of the Pistons’ last two games with Griffin active, but Kennard and Morris out.

Wood is averaging 24.9 DraftKings fantasy points per game over his past two contests, and in the 17 career games he surpassed the 20-minute mark, the forward is averaging 30.5 DraftKings fantasy points per game. The Jazz are a stout defense, ranking 11th in efficiency, but no matter the matchup, fantasy owners shouldn’t be ignoring Wood at this low of a cost.
