23 Sep NFL Survivor Pool Week 3 Recap
Look out boys… Dallas is for real! The Cowboys put the pedal to the metal and easily defeated the Dolphins Sunday, 31-6, pleasing the many survivors who chose the 22-point favorite. Running Back Ezekiel Elliot looked like he had a license to fly, averaging 6.6 yards per carry on his way to a 19-for-125 day. And, hold on tight, Tony Pollard added another 103 yards on only 13 carries with a TD.
Elliott and Pollard weren’t the only ones to lead the Cowboys’ boogie back to Texas. QB Dak Prescott had another solid day, completing 19 of 32 passes for 246 yards with two touchdowns. And he rushed for one more.
Cowboy pickers may have been a bit nervous in the first half, watching their chosen team of the week take a meager 10-6 lead into halftime. But have no fear against the lowly ‘Phins. They again fell asleep at the wheel by allowing two touchdowns on Dallas’ first two possessions in the third quarter. They responded in typical Dolphin fashion by punting on their first three second-half drives. The news will be rollin’ outta New York, Philadelphia, and Washington – it will be one tough task for any team to compete for the NFC East division title this year. It’s still early, but it looks like that crown may be home to the Lone Star State.
The Dolphins can’t wait to get back home to Miami next week, but still face a formidable task hosting the L.A. Chargers. Of course it’s likely that every week this season, the Dolphins will be underdogs and could provide the road to success with survivors picking whichever team has the pleasure of playing them.
Here are some early considerations for next week with early point spreads provided by fivethirtyeight.com:
L.A. Rams (10.5) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
L.A. Chargers (-9) at Miami Dolphins
Houston Texans (-8.5) vs. Denver Broncos
