4 Players To Help Build Your Best NBA DraftKings Lineup (1/24/20)

Welcome back, everyone. After a weird scheduling week in the NBA, we have a 10-game slate for tonight.

Below are four of my favorite targets to help build your best NBA DraftKings lineup.

There are many situations that could significantly change the slate, so keep an eye out for injury news throughout the day. Always feel free to contact me on Twitter with any questions.

Top Play

NOTE: Jaylen Brown has been ruled OUT. Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward are the new top plays on the slate.

Jaylen Brown (SG/SF, $6,600)

Lately, It seems like at least one of the Boston Celtics’ players has been inactive due to injury. This morning, small forward Jayson Tatum was ruled out, making Jaylen Brown one of the top plays on the slate. Brown missed two games last week, but played 32 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers on January 20.

With Tatum off the court this season, Brown’s production increases to 1.11 DraftKings fantasy points per minute with a 3.7% usage rate bump. Tonight’s matchup against the Orlando Magic is not ideal, but Brown is significantly underpriced with Tatum out, which overshadows any matchup concerns.

Tatum will be a popular play tonight, but for good reason. With Tatum ruled out, Brown should be priced around $7,500. He has the added benefit of fitting into both guard and forward positions, making him a versatile value play on tonight’s slate.

Value Plays

Dewayne Dedmon (C, $4,600)

Just a few weeks ago, Dewayne Dedmon went through a 17-game stretch in which he only saw 7 total minutes of playing time. That resulted in Dedmon requesting a trade, further burying himself on the Sacramento Kings’ depth chart.

Recently, however, multiple injuries in Sacramento’s frontcourt have forced Dedmon into a starting role. On Wednesday, Dedmon drew the start at center and played 31 minutes. He finished the game with 10 points and 13 rebounds, totaling 30 DraftKings fantasy points. Despite his limited playing time this season, Dedmon has produced at an almost 1.0 fantasy point per minute rate.

Although he was priced up, Dedmon appears to be one of the better values on the slate at this point. He will draw another start against a weak Chicago Bulls’ frontcourt and should see close to 30 minutes. With so much potential injury news today, Dedmon might be less of a priority closer to lock, but as of now, he is a solid value at a reasonable price.

Monte Morris (PG, $5,000)

Monte Morris will continue to see extended playing time in the midst of an injured Denver Nuggets squad. Tonight, Jamal Murray has already been ruled out, and Gary Harris is listed as questionable.

The Nuggets will face the Pelicans in New Orleans. The Pelicans are ranked in the bottom-10 in defensive efficiency in their last 10 games. This game has the third-highest total on the slate, and Denver is projected to score almost 4 points more than their season average.

Morris has not shown a relatively high ceiling, but he has averaged 25.75 DraftKings fantasy points in his last two games, making him a good point-per-dollar play in cash games. If he gets too popular, he is a potential fade candidate in large-field GPPs.

GPP Play

Pascal Siakam (PF/C, $7,700)

After three straight games with less than 31 DraftKings points, Pascal Siakam looked more like himself with 44.25 fantasy points against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. After missing 11 straight games with a groin injury, Siakam was eased back into the rotation, playing 30 or fewer minutes in five straight games.

Siakam played 34 minutes against the Sixers, and it appears that he is ready to play substantial minutes for the Toronto Raptors once again. He goes from a tough matchup against the Sixers last game to a positive one against the Knicks tonight.

Siakam was priced up from his previous game, which prevented him from being a standout value, but he is still underpriced for his ceiling and could go overlooked on this 10-game slate. With popular options on both sides of his salary tier, Siakam’s ownership should remain low enough to be a positive value in GPPs tonight.
