2020 Fantasy Baseball: C Rankings

Catchers. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. And now, some leagues are asking you for two! The game’s most volatile position, simply for the wear and tear, I value guys I know will be in the lineup more times than not. There are a couple of names not on this list that will however be on the Hitters list and Overall as well. As much as I love Fantasy Baseball, I hate the way rankings are done with players eligible at multiple positions. Of course I understand how eligibility works, and definitely value it, but I am trying to simplify my positional rankings this year. For starters, not every league has the same eligibility requirements. Know your league settings! More than that, it just gets messy. “Is Gleyber Torres my #4 2B, but #6 SS?” So, I am going through the projected starters at each position and ranking them as I see fit. Of course this means players not currently signed (Yasiel Puig, as an example) will not be found. For that reason, you can expect updates as these starter projections shift. Don’t forget to check out the Turn Two Podcast for even more Fantasy Baseball content, like this episode covering the 1B position.

For context, I play all formats but my preference is for Points leagues. Does that mean these are weighted for Points vs Roto, no. At least I do not see it that way. You know the format, I do not. These are who I’d be drafting ahead of the next guy, and I tier them in twelves, as in 1-12 is your starter. I am also a Dynasty enthusiast with deep roots in the prospect game. My main components in these rankings is prior year performance + weighted runs created + age + my own gut instincts. I am a firm believer of the age 27-32 window as well.

Part of the reason for me doing the rankings this way is how jumbled things get when sorting for Fantasy Pros. However, I do love their format and that they rank the industry. You can catch how I have things sorted over there with this link: 2020 Fantasy Baseball Expert Rankings Consensus.
