13 Oct Daily Fantasy Must Plays for Week 6
After another solid daily fantasy week in Week 5, I am looking to capitalize on a few advantageous matchups in Week 6. With XTB’s new and improved DFS tool, you can have full access to all the great tools that I use to set my lineups on Sunday.

With that said, here are my must play daily fantasy options for Week 6.
Quarterback – Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions get a really nice matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last week, Jacksonville got carved up by my top daily fantasy quarterback pick – Deshaun Watson. He put up over 350 yards passing and three touchdowns; I expect Stafford to do the same if not better.
Using XTB’s Advanced NFL Statistics Tool, Stafford is top 10 in touchdown passes and yards among QB’s despite having a bye. He also threw for three touchdowns in the Lions’ lone game that they were favored. Detroit is -3.5 favorites against the Jags as of October 13.
I am a firm believer in the Lions this season, but the only way they can turn their season around and get to the postseason is by letting their gunslinger quarterback throw the football as much as possible. The Jaguars are near the bottom in every defensive category so far this season and with Detroit needing to play to its strength, Stafford should be in store for a huge day.
The best matchups to take advantage of are the ones where game script can play into your favor. The Jaguars offense can hang for a little bit with teams but cannot overcome their horrendous defense, so as the game goes on it should give ample opportunity for Stafford and the Lions to succeed.
The fantasy points that will be scored in this game will be ridiculous. It is by far the game I will be on the edge of my seat for because I am going all in on this one. Stafford is my must-play QB in all fantasy formats this week.
Running Back – David Montgomery, Chicago Bears
This week’s winner of the monster daily fantasy performance will be David Montgomery of the Chicago Bears. Montgomery gets to face the Carolina Panthers and the worst fantasy run defense in the NFL. Only a few things are certain in the world right now with everything that is going on, but one of them is play the lead running back against the Panthers.
Carolina is giving up on average almost 30 fantasy points per game to opponent’s lead running back. Now that’s an astonishing number when you think about it. It is one thing to be bad at stopping the run, but it is another to be allowing every top running back you face eclipse over 100 yards and a touchdown-plus per game.
When you know a team fails week in and week out at stopping a certain thing on defense, that is what fantasy players need to take advantage of when making their lineups. If I see a favorable matchup against Carolina’s defense, you better believe I am playing it. Montgomery did have a pedestrian game running the football last week, but cashed in on a goal line carry and added seven receptions in the passing game as well.
He is by far and away Chicago’s top back and this Sunday he will show that last week was a fluke. Montgomery is about to go off for over 100 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving and have a couple of scores to go with it. Get Montgomery in your daily fantasy lineups because this could even be a 30-plus touch game for him.
I expect the top running back performance to go to Montgomery this week.
Wide Receiver – Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, Detroit Lions
As you read earlier, I am going all in with the Detroit Lions passing attack this week in daily fantasy, so fire up both Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones as well to stack with Matthew Stafford. I have always been a fan of stacking players and this week will be no different. I am just going above and beyond with this matchup and getting both of the Lions top pass catchers.
With Stafford in line to sling the ball around, someone has got to be on the receiving end of it. Sign me up for Kenny G and Marvin Jones as both are in store for big days. Jacksonville just gave up a top-five fantasy performance to Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks and a top 20 fantasy performance to Will Fuller V.
I see Golladay and Jones matching each other on the stat sheet with both going over 100 yards receiving and scoring at least a touchdown apiece. The two also offer different ranges for Stafford as targets. Golladay leads the team in Air Yards, while Jones has been a catch and run option, according to XTB’s Scatter Plot Tool.
This game and this matchup are just too good to pass on. I have been an advocate for Golladay in the past and now you can add his partner Marvin Jones to the list. I am the biggest Detroit Lions fan this week and you should be too.
Tight End – Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens
My top tight end daily fantasy play for this week is Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens. This week they make the short trip to face the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are off to one of their worst starts in recent memory as they currently are 1-3–1 and have been giving up almost 30 points per game on defense.
Through the first five weeks of the season, the Eagles defense has been giving up over 15 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. Andrews continues to play at a high level with five touchdowns so far this season, and has firmly established himself as Lamar Jackson’s top pass catcher and one of the league’s premier tight ends.
This game will be a high-scoring affair and the winner will be the one who executes in the red zone. Andrews feasts in that area and his daily fantasy potential is through the roof in this matchup. I expect Andrews to continue his hot streak and cash in with not one but at least two touchdowns.
Philadelphia has shown that they cannot stop a good passing offense. They just came off an abysmal performance against the Steelers and that kind of defensive performance does not get fixed overnight. Baltimore will exploit that weakness and Lamar Jackson is due for a breakout game.
Get Mark Andrews in every lineup you can because he will be the difference in you making some money this Sunday or going home empty handed.
