START or BENCH: Week 2

Hello All, welcome to Week 2 of Start/Bench at Expand The Boxscore.

Best of luck in Week 2!!!

QUARTERBACK

STUDS

Patrick Mahomes, KCC at Baltimore
Josh Allen, BUF at Miami
Kyler Murray, ARI vs. Minnesota
Aaron Rodgers, GBP vs. Detroit
Russell Wilson, SEA vs. Tennessee
Lamar Jackson, BAL vs. Baltimore
Justin Herbert, LAC vs. Dallas
Tom Brady, TBB vs. Atlanta
Ryan Tannehill, TEN at Seattle
Dak Prescott, DAL at L.A. Chargers

START

Matt Ryan, ATL at TBB

Ryan had a surprisingly bad game in Week 1 versus the Eagles. But, I’d be comfortable rolling him out in Week 2 as he’ll face a Tampa defense that gave up 403 passing yards to Dallas QB Dak Prescott in Week 1. Look for Ryan to have a much better connection with both WR Calvin Ridley nd rookie TE Kyle Pitts.

Baker Mayfield, CLE vs. Houston

After blowing an early lead and taking a very disappointing loss in Week 1 at Kansas City, look for the Browns to play a full 4 quarters at home against a very undermanned Houston defense. The Texans allowed rookie QB Trevor Lawrence to pass for 332 yards and 3 TDs in Week 1.

Jameis Winston, NOS at Carolina

While Winston only passed for 148 yards in Week 1, he did have 5 TD passes. But more surprisingly, zero interceptions. The Carolina defense allowed rookie QB Zach Wilson to pass for 258 yards and 2 TDs in Week 1. Look for WR Marquez Callaway to be more involved in the offense after being shutdown by CB Jaire Alexander in Week 1.

BENCH

Carson Wentz, IND vs. L.A. Rams

The Rams held QB Andy Dalton to 206 passing yards and 2 INTs in Week 1. While Wentz did play respectably in Week 1, passing for 251 yards and 2 TDs in Week 1 versus Seattle, this is not the Seattle defense.

Sam Darnold, CAR vs. New Orleans

The Saints defense embarrassed the reigning MVP, Aaron Rodgers, to the tune of 133 passing yards and 2 INTs in Week 1. While things are looking up for Darnold after a solid Week 1 performance, it won’t be pretty this week.

Jared Goff, DET at Green Bay

While Goff did have a very solid Week 1 with 338 passing yards and 3 TD passes, I doubt that he’ll attempt 57 passes again this week. Look for Green Bay to play inspired ball on Monday night as they bounce back from Week 1’s embarrassing loss to New Orleans.
